Guided Walks
The landscape around Chesa Marchetta is best explored on foot.
Join a guided walk through the forest and down to the lake, discovering the beauty of the Engadin along the way, a tranquil experience in summer when the meadows are in full bloom with wildflowers, or in winter when the valley is blanketed in snow.
Crasta Farm
Just beyond the doorstep of Chesa Marchetta lies the Val Fex, a legendary alpine valley celebrated for its pristine beauty. Guests can travel by traditional horse and carriage lined with cowhides, winding gently along idyllic trails.
The journey leads to Crasta Farm, one of Chesa Marchetta’s closest and most trusted local suppliers of meat and milk.
Outdoor Pursuits
In summer, the crystal-clear waters of Lake Silvaplana are the perfect spot for a post-hike swim, while the eastern end of the lake offers a range of watersports.
When winter arrives, enjoy world-class skiing within easy reach on the slopes of St. Moritz, Corvatsch and Furtschellas.
For families, Muot Marias (just behind the hotel) has an ice rink for all ages, and nearby, the Preda to Bergün run offers a thrilling 6km toboggan ride through the mountains.

Explore Sils Maria with a local guide and discover stories from time gone by. From hidden histories to local tales of scraggito design, walk the same streets that Friedrich Nietzsche once called “the loveliest place in the world.”
Local Museums
The Museum Engiadinais offers an elegant introduction to the valley’s craft heritage, particularly its decorated interiors and façades. Nearby, Nietzsche‑Haus preserves the summer home where Friedrich Nietzsche wrote poetry and music.
Seasonal exhibitions can also be found in local galleries, including Galleria Fex, SAX Atelier, and the Sils Museum.

Many of the artists have strong links to the region and several, such as Louise Bourgeois, Philip Guston, Paul McCarthy, and Jason Rhoades, are Hauser & Wirth gallery DNA artists.
Hauser & Wirth St Moritz
Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz occupies the Palace Galerie space in the heart of the Engadin Valley.
This 4,400 sq foot exhibition space spans three floors of a building owned by Badrutt’s Palace Hotel and is a natural extension of the gallery’s activities in its native Switzerland.

Are experiences different in summer vs. winter?
Many of the local experiences available vary with the seasons.
In summer, guests can enjoy lush green landscapes, outdoor activities, and swimming in the lake. In contrast, winter transforms the surroundings into a snowy wonderland, perfect for skiing and other winter sports.
Regardless of the season, all indoor experiences, including hotel art tours and local museums, remain the same (please check opening times ahead of your visit).

Are experiences available year-round?
Experiences are available in both the summer and winter season, with each offering something totally unique. In winter, guests can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country trails, while the warmer months are perfect for hiking, cycling, watersports, and exploring nature.

Yes, Sil Maria and the Engadin region play host to a many events throughout the year. Guests can enjoy cultural highlights such as classical concerts, art exhibitions, and village festivals, as well as local markets and culinary events.
